Mento Buru is an extremely popular Bakersfield, California band, You may see them performing for a private party or even opening for a major act at a venue in Bakersfield. Matt Munoz a native of McFarland, California, heads up this group of awesome musicians who no matter how you label their music, it’s just great music! SKA – Latin – Funk – Rock – Reggae -Jazz & even some of the world famous Bako sound thrown in, they play occasionally at the late Buck Owens Crystal Palace, and if you play there you have to be great….these Bako boys are great!

Mento Buru is an 8-piece band that combines Jamaican SKA, rock, funk, salsa, hip-hop, jazz, and punky reggae creating a maddening musical experience.

What started out as just a bunch of friends jamming for backyard parties, has evolved into a cross-cultural phenomenon all over California! Born during the year when grunge and depression were the fashion, Mento Buru didn’t care. It wasn’t about trends and trying to be cool flying the wack, smelly flannel shirt with Doc Marten boots and shorts, it was about having fun playing the music we love, not the latest fad. Whether you’re into Punk, Country, Rockabilly, Cumbia, Salsa, Reggae, Ska, Oi!, Emo, Goth, Metal or whatever weird names they come up with next, you’ll find yourself welcome at the Mento Buru show. Delano Golf Course is a great little 9-hole golf course in Delano, CA at 104 S. Lexington Street in Delano. Delano is close to Hwy Freeway 99 and next the Kern County Park in Delano. This par 32 course is open year round and attracts golfers from all over Kern and Tulare Counties. Delano is about 30 miles from Bakersfield to the South, and Tulare is about 35 miles North of this Community and is known as the Table Grape capital of the world. In fact there are Vineyards behind the golf course. Delano Golf Course has 2 sets of tees, so you play the 9 holes 2 times for a par 64. There are a few tricky holes, the course is not long but it puts the premium on accuracy and your short game. Plus it has a really great snack bar!

This is a beautiful place on the California Central Coast — Moonstone Beach is near the quaint little community of Cambria. It is on the way to San Simeon and the world famous Hearst Castle. Moonstone is a world class Surfing destination, only for the experienced Surfer in a lot of areas. Swells can be as high as 7.5-8 feet and higher at times.

If you are an experienced Surfer you should include Moonstone in Cambria on your California Surf trip. You can also Surf at Pismo, Avila, Morro Bay, Cayucos and other areas on the Central Coast and locations in Santa Barbara, Malibu, Zuma, Huntington and Newport Beach to name a few places to check out. North Kern Golf Course is a fun 18 hole regulation course Bakersfield, CA. From the longest tees it offers 6,754 yards of golf for a par of 72.

The course rating is 71.8 with a slope rating of 123. North Kern is Kern County owned public golf course with a call and reserve tee-time policy. Jim Phillips is the head Golf Professional.

The 9th hole is a straight away par 4 with a fairway bunker and one greenside bunker, the green is elevated and on the small side, this makes the premium on the second shot critical, you do not want to be left, right or over the green, you will have a difficult time getting the ball close on your pitch shot…not the longest hole, but a hard hole to birdie, if you make par here you are happy to move to number 10!

North Kern Gold Course # 9 hole — Championship tees : 385 yds — Mens tees : 376 yds — Senior tees : 341 yds — Ladies tees : 333 yds … remember that the premium is on the drive and position of the second shot!
